today.

penny02

just around the house lately; running errands and doing chores. trying to get things finished up before leaving in only 10 days. stocked up on dog food, a spiffy new kennel, and sewed up a new cushion for penny. also, i went to the library today and checked out 2 books even though i might have time to read half a book before next weekend. i've been around but feel like blogging about the everyday things aren't always that entertaining (though i enjoy reading about everybody else's everyday things). i'll try to post a few more times next week.

i'm extending you an invitation to follow along on my journey ahead. we're going to kick off the summer with a great vacation to yellowstone national park. i'm really excited and i have my annual pass ready to go! sometimes i still feel a bit like a crazy person packing up and moving 24-hours-drive away from home & family.

the photos around this blog lately are sooc/unedited as i am 'saving' up to use my free 30 days of photoshop once classes starts (just in case) and i'm too lazy to turn on the other computer. hopefully you can stand it for another couple weeks :)

amazing grace - one year

my list of things to do before i leave isn't getting any shorter. just trying to keep up with life before i'm gone for several months. i finally had a chance to sit down today and edit some of the photos i took for my nieces' first birthday. i'm really excited to see what her 18 month photos will look like when i get back from photography school (because i think i did a better job at 6 months).

have a good weekend!

finished quilt

quilt

i finished my quilt this past week. i can't believe we're already a week into may. i leave for montana in just 2 weeks. i wanted this quilt to feel summery, simple, country, but not vintage. i think it turned out nice but i've done better quilting in the past. it will keep me warm this summer in the cool mountain air.

in the dirt

herbs01

i planted the garden today. mostly a variety of pepper plants, a cherry tomato, some sugar peas, some beans, and some carrots. about half from plants and half from seeds. i also planted our container herb garden. it worked really well last summer because it was just outside the back door (more easily accessable than the other garden) and it seems to keep the herbs at bay.

i also captured a little sun beam shining through the oregano.

outtakes

grace01

here are some outtakes from my niece's 1 year photo shoot. sometimes i think the imperfect shots are some of the more interesting. in this age of digital photography a lot of the outtakes are sent to the trash before even being loaded onto the computer.

i can't believe that she's growning up so fast! i remember when she was born. and she has even changed so much since just 6 months ago. i'll share some of the best shots from the day sometime next week. i've got a lot to do coming up (leaving for montana in 3 weeks). dealing with replacing my brand-spankin-new computer was not one of the things i was expecting to have to deal with so the photo editing will be done during the week.

hope you're having a nice weekend.
