ok, last post for the day. just some random photos that i finally got around to editing.

5 years (+ 1 week)

last friday we celebrated our 5 year anniversary. it certainly went fast. brett was able to visit for a few days. it had been 2 months since i had seen him. only 1 more month until he comes out to drive me home.

after running errands i found these lovely flowers on my doorstep. it was a nice surprise. and i think they will probably live for at least another week (?), maybe.

flash

i am convinced that flash can be a powerful tool. it gives a different look to photographs. i definately need to spend some more time with it to get to know what it can do for me. flash can be completely misused if you are not careful. we only had 1 day of flash class and barely anytime to practice so i need to get it out again sometime next week to remind myself of the basics. thanks to my lovely model.

the "wedding"

can't believe it's already been more than a week since i staged this wedding. we had a lot of fun and my models had a good time with it. it got me partially out of my photographic rut but i'm back in the slump as the stress of the final project creeps in. only 2 more weeks of class and only 3 weeks til i head back home. i should have puppies there waiting for my arrival!

dew and light

i think i was successful at recapturing the light i found a few weeks ago. this time it's me and the hubby. there is such beautiful dew at this park early in the morning. definately ready for bed tonight since i was up before the sun. hope you had a good weekend!

more butte.

a street band from my trip to butte. these were the most interesting musicians at the national folk festival and they weren't even part of the show. going to make some cupcakes now for a "wedding" i'm throwing tomorrow. it should be exciting and my creativity needs a good kick in the pants (considering i've only taken about 10 photos in 10 days). hope your having a good week. only 3 more days until my hubs arrives for a visit!

self portrait

if only i wasn't so tired on sunday night, this is what i would have turned in for my self portrait on monday. unfortunately, my pillow was calling my name and what i actually turned in was only the black and white on the left. it was interpreted as being scared/lonely which is not what i was going for. one thing about my photos is that i just show what i like to look at, there's not a deep meaning behind things.

butte.

had an interesting opportunity to go to butte. the town has quite a history of economic and environmental turmoil and it shows through in every part of the people and buildings.

in other happenings, i am at the point of complete exhaustion and very much looking forward to the morning off tomorrow. i have a few photographic opportunities planned if i can drag myself out of bed. i am also loving print class. if your photos live in the digital world i highly reccomend putting them on paper. it makes everything tangible and real.

inspiring light.

even though it was misquito infested, the light on saturday morning just may have inspired my final project... can't wait for my husband to visit in two weeks!

hot air

we had beautiful light on friday morning for the hot air balloon fest. drove down at 4:30am to capture these images. it was totally worth it because the sun came up over the trees and illuminated the colorful balloons beautifully.

Lighting Final.

i made it through my studio lighting course. it was a 4-week, whirlwind of information. when the class started i didn't like it at all. now that it's over, i think i might miss it. i turned in this series of images for my final project in that class. they were a lot of fun to make. looking forward to the open studio sessions in the next few weeks.

glacier national park

had a good, but rainy, visit to glacier national park over my 4th of july break. it is a beautiful place and i can't wait to go back when the sky is clear and i can see the tops of the mountains.

still trying to figure out this whole color editing thing. can't wait to get my monitor calibrator so i can be more accurate. i'm feeling like my images are a bit dark but don't want to over compensate anything. also it's a process learning how to go from a very flat RAW image to an edited version without thinking it's overdone. it's all a process....
