i forgot to mention that the new header is a picture i took of a duck's nest. the dogs found the mother on the nest and she flew away long enough for me to snap some photos. 7 eggs, i think.

memorial day weekend

well, didn't really do much this weekend. friday i got to go and see my niece grace and spend some time with my sister. we went to the grocery store and i planned a menu for them because she has to start cooking her own meals this week. i took some pictures of grace. she's pretty cute.

friday evening my mother-in-law came up with my brother-in-law's dog so we were in for a dog filled weekend. he doesn't do too well in the car so instead of going to the dog beach we mostly stayed home. saturday morning we went to lowe's to get flowers for the front pots (i did the back ones only last weekend). came home and planted the pots. most of the rest of the day was spent sitting around watching the dogs play.

sunday we went to the grocery store and i finished up some baby bibs for a gift and just realized that i totally forgot to take a picture of them before wrapping them up. that is quite upsetting because i embroidered these cute little rabbits dancing on one of them :( monday we took the dogs to the park to run and then gave them a bath. i did some laundry, but not enough, and then we went to visit some friends in the evening.

i'm way super tired and i don't really know why because we didn't do a thing and we had a 4 day weekend. i guess it's good that we only have a 4 day work week this week because i'm already for next weekend.

well, i couldn't resist these sweet little cupcakes for a sweet little girl who will be 1 month tomorrow. and i get to go visit!

as for the rest of the long weekend we have a visiting grandma pat and cousin kamper (dog cousin that is). so we might do the dog beach and a picnic one day because the weather is supposed to be beautiful. and probably lots of laziness.

well, penny didn't do anything very special for my mother's day... she was well behaved all day. my parents came to visit for the weekend. we went shopping and took in a musical and out-to-eat on saturday. sunday we did more shopping and more shopping. it was fun. here's some images of spring...

spring cleaning

well, i didn't do very much this weekend because brett was away at his sibblings weekend. if he was home i'm sure there would have been a bike ride and a paddle involved. the weather was beautiful.
thurday night penny and i went on a walk and i made left over turkey meatballs into a sandwich from the meal of turkey meatballs, sweetpotato fries, and sugar snap peas w/ cashews and craisins that i had made earlier in the week. i finished the library book i was reading and watched some tv.
friday i was busy busy at work but when i got home penny and i rented some movies and hung out at home.
saturday morning i slept in a little. i finished the curtains in the morning and then i worked on cleaning the house a little. i brushed penny outside in the sunshine. not much accomplished. i did some laundry and cleaned out my underwear drawer. in the afternoon i went shopping and didn't really buy anything. penny and i went on a walk and then watched another movie. penny spent most of her day lazing in the sun on the deck.
sunday i got up early and went to yoga at the gym. on my way home i stopped at the grocery store. i got a lot of fruits and veggies and enough peppers and tomatoes to make some more salsa. i had a snack and then we went on a really long walk. i came home and took a little rest in the sun on the deck. i cooked some leftovers for lunch and then i cleaned up the kitchen, ran the dishwasher, started more laundry, cleaned the loft, put away the clutter in the sewing room, vacuumed and dusted the entire upstairs, and folded all the laundry. it was such beautiful weather that i had the house all opened up so even though i was inside i got to enjoy the weather. penny spent another day out on the deck in the sun and stayed awake most of the day. we went to the library and when we got home we were both tired so we watched one of the movies again. by the time it was over brett was almost home. i put away the clean dishes and wiped all the counters. i convinced brett to make us some grilled cheese for supper and then we took a short family walk.
tonight i'm going to make broiled peppers, tomatoes, and garlic and toss them in whole wheat bowtie noodles with a little olive oil and some parmesian, parsely and basil. i will probably also make some garlic bread to finish off the loaf of french bread in the refrigerator.
back to work for now. i get to go see an etched glass installation this afternoon and it's perfect weather for a site visit.
