my first quilt

this is my first quilt. isn't it cute?

okay, maybe it's cuter with my dog on it. it is, in fact, a queen-size monster of purple, green, and blue pinwheels. i made this quilt when i was about 16; all by myself. and have i learned anything since....

well, let me tell you, every single piece of this quilt was backstitched - both ends (garments and toys had been the only other thing i had made until then)

but mostly i've learned that i enjoy making quilts out of fabrics that i love. not just stuff that goes together. and why did my mom agree to buy me that much fabric in the first place? queen size!

and this is my most recent. obviously not finished yet - but i love it!

so this is a mini quilt i use as a travel checker board (if the most recent must be something that is completed).
enjoy :) a great idea from camille

  2. Glad to see that other cute dogs love quilts too! The other day one of my dogs was determine not to let me have the pile of fabric underneath her... brat! purple and green pinwheels are perfect! Such a brave girl at 16 and you completed the whole thing, BRAVO! I completely agree, one should use fabric one loves!
